When I re-started OD&DITIES, I had the idea that I would write the first issue all myself, 75% of the second issue, and 50% of the third, and would subsequently write 25-50% of the magazine myself, meaning around 2,500 – 5,000 words per month, a level I thought I could sustainably maintain. The PDF's available are the MAIN reason I was able to come back to the game after many years “taking a break” (getting married, having a couple kids…adulting). There will be a Player’s Tome and Treasure Keeper’s Tome, as well as a combined Complete Tome for those who just want one big-ass book for their shelves. The Player’s Tome will probably weigh in at 150 pages, the TK’s Tome at 220 – something like that. The basic $10 pledge includes a PDF of every issue that we produce from this campaign, as well as stock art. I'll personally be waiting for the print version, which should be available for order soon according to the announcement thread over at the Swords & Wizardry forum. Gygax Magazine was a short-lived magazine that in some ways was the spiritual successor of Dragon Magazine from the 1st & 2nd Edition days. TLDR Summary: If you are not familiar with the history of Tomb of Horrors, or your players don't fully understand the stakes, just don't run it. Recapturing the 0e mindset, that "hobbyist" approach, is one of my goals - it's not so much in the rulebook I've written, but it should become much clearer when Knockspell Magazine comes out. I own the Brave Halfling S&W White Box, Brave Halfling Delving Deeper, S&W Core Edition.I have also put in money for the Champions of ZED crowdfunding about which I have totally given up hope. As always with Knockspell magazine, this issue is tremendously, but cheerfully, last issue we have seen several old-school gaming conventions held, various teapot-tempests emerging and receding on the blogosphere, and a number of modules released for out-of-print fantasy RPGs and their retro-clones. Gygax Magazine had some high production values, but unfortunately only lasted six issues. If it only produces a single issue of unknown page count, that becomes fairly expensive for a small PDF.

I've recently ordered the S&W print version from lulu.com (as a Valentine's Day gift from my fiancee - she knows me so well), along with a copy of the first issue of Matthew Finch's old-school magazine, Knockspell. While I await their arrival, I've taken the opportunity to quickly retool a D&D character sheet I had sitting around. Finch a long time ago that I had an adventure that would be a good one for the magazine and I would get it to him ASAP. I think Wolfgang was the first to launch KQ, which is a really slick magazine, and I believe it is the spiritual successor to The Dragon. If you look at Introductory Module B1, the user is supplied with 25 monsters and 25 treasures to scatter throughout a 56-room dungeon. Black Blade Publishing is committed to publishing high-quality gaming material for fans of first edition fantasy role-playing games and enthusiasts of the hobby’s earliest incarnations. This seems to leave an awful lot of empty rooms (and to make for an unnecessarily large dungeon). This issue continues the topic of getting players to realize their characters aren't invincible superhero's, who can't be killed cause they are integral to the plot.

My kids found what 1e books I did have and it made me wonder if there was any further information about not only 1e D&D, but also if there was any community around keeping it going. Each review is listed by product name, with product type, episode of appearance, and time code noted for each. Back when this whole cloning D&D business started, people felt we needed to have a game like the original. I often see posts asking for Lulu RPG recommendations, and Lulu’s search functionality is pretty lacking, so rather than type mine up every time I wrote this post for easy reference.
